Learning to add laughter to your life can reduce so much stress. People ask me from time to time, how can you laugh or smile when things go bad for you? How do you maintain that positive attitude all the time?
One important fact that I've learned over the years is, God is the center of my joy. No matter what I go through – praise is what I will continue to do- that’s the key. Yes, you must also keep your mind stayed on Him, for HE WILL keep you in perfect peace. There will be times when you feel as though you want to explode – but just ask yourself, is that going to solve the problem? Never let problems, people or issues control your attitude – God is greater than all. Also, laughing with your mate or those close to you can relieve stress in any relationship. One day, Eric an I laughed until we felt it in our stomachs. Did we need the time of laughter? Yes, it was quite cleansing for us. We have been so busy with my healing process, and he has been working nights and maintaining things that I usually handle. So needless to say, his load has been quite heavy. My load was focusing more on healing and being obedient to those around me. However, sitting in the house all day can be a little boring (telling the truth), when you are limited to what you can and cannot do. But the laughter we held onto that day, filtered into the next day, and the next. We found laughter again, and not just a heehee…but a HA HA. Somehow that laughter helped to lighten our loads, and we remembered how much fun it was to laugh at the silly things, and each other.
I encourage you all to find the laughter again. Life can be challenging at times, but if you laugh at yourself, and learn to look at laughter in a whole new light – you just may find that your load too will become easier to handle. How will you laugh again?
A cheerful heart does good like medicine, but a broken spirit makes one sick. Proverbs 17:22 (TLB)
